REVELSTOKE - Drivers heading back to Alberta after a weekend of sun and fun in the Thompson-Okanagan will have to use a much longer route this afternoon.
Highway #1 is closed in both directions about 10 km west of Revelstoke.
Drive BC says there are no local detours. The estimated time of reopening is between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. today.
There are reports that the crash is fatal in nature, but that hasn’t been confirmed.
The only way to get to Alberta this afternoon is Highway #3 in southern B.C. or Highway #5 north to Highway #16.
