UPDATE: Good Creek wildfire at 400 hectares keeping crews busy today

The Good Creek fire on July 20 taken from Peachland to the north.

UPDATE: The Good Creek wildfire is still active today.

A media release sent out today, July 22, estimates the blaze is at 400 hectares.

It says there are 20 firefighters working on this fire. Crews are building handguards and will continue to extinguish hot spots. Air support will continue to support throughout the day.

Smoke can be seen but remains within the fire perimeter.

Even so Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement in effect for the Central and South Okanagan.

Smokey skies are causing poor air quality and reduced visibility in Kelowna, West Kelowna and Peachland. It is also affecting Penticton, Summerland, Naramata, Keremeos, Oliver and Osoyoos.

If you are susceptible to smoky air conditions Environment Canada recommends to stay inside or find an air conditioned public place.
