Unseasonably warm temperatures in store for Kamloops this week

Kamloops residents should expect to deal with slushy conditions this week as Environment Canada calls for temperatures to reach 7 Celsius by Friday.

Kamloops residents will feel some relief from last week’s Arctic temperatures along with a combination of sunshine, clouds, showers and flurries over the next few days.

Environment Canada says to expect a mix of sun and cloud today, Jan. 20, with east winds at 20km/h becoming light this afternoon. Today’s high of 6 Celsius is expected to be followed by an overnight low of 1 C.

Tuesday could see a 60 per cent chance of flurries in the morning, turning to a 60 per cent chance of showers starting late in the morning, and ongoing into the afternoon. The snow level is expected to reach near the valley bottom with a high of 4 C and low of -4 C.

A mix of sun and cloud is expected Wednesday with a high of 2 C and a low of 1 C.

There is a 70 per cent chance of showers on Thursday under mostly cloudy skies. Thursday’s high should reach 6 C, followed by cloudy conditions overnight with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a low of 2 C.

Cloudy skies are expected to continue Friday along with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a high of 7 C. Cloudy conditions are expected overnight with a low of 0 C.

The upcoming weekend looks mostly cloudy with a high of 4 C predicted for both Saturday and Sunday.

Kamloops normally experiences a high and low of 0 C and -7 C this time of year.
