A UBC Okanagan student's piece of art was stolen and the student is hoping to have it returned.

On Feb. 10, a UBCO student reported their painting was missing, according to a UBCO news release.

The student had been working on the five-foot-wide canvas outside the Innovation Precinct 1 building at 1540 Innovation Drive.

The painting had been left in the rear loading area outside to dry on Saturday evening and was not there the next day.

Surveillance footage shows the art piece in the back of a pickup truck around 10:30 p.m.

Security footage shows images of a gray pickup in the area around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Other images show the painting in the rear box of the truck as it drove through the campus.

The painting is a 40 by 60 inch canvas and weighs around 100 pounds. It is painted chrome with neon paint that had just been added to it.

The artist is hoping to get the piece returned as it is part of a group he is working on.

Anyone with information helpful to retrieving the painting is asked to contact the UBC Okanagan Community Safety Officer Robyn Boffy by email at robyn.boffy@ubc.ca.
