A UBC Okanagan student has been charged with voyeurism following an incident that allegedly took place at the campus in March, 2020.

The B.C. Prosecution Service has confirmed Sari Siyam has been charged with one count of voyeurism.

The charge was laid two weeks after CBC reported an alleged voyeurism incident at the UBCO campus between two students.

“The offence is alleged to have occurred on or about March 10, 2020 at or near Kelowna. The information was sworn on March 8, 2021,” said Dan McLaughlin, communications counsel with the prosecution service, via email.

Siyam’s first provincial court appearance is scheduled for April 29 in Kelowna.

UBCO won't comment on the process of an external entity, nor can it share information about any particular complaint to protect the privacy of students, faculty and staff, according to a statement issued by Lesley Cormack, deputy vice-chancellor and principal of UBCO, Feb. 22.
