Two properties in South Okanagan make top 100 assessment list

PENTICTON  - Only two South Okanagan properties made it on to this year’s Thompson - Okanagan top 100 valued residential properties list in 2016.

The two properties are both located in Summerland. Coming in 48th on the list is 903 Dent Road, waterfront property valued at $4,398,000. The second, placing 84th on the list, is located at 7805 Oak Avenue, again waterfront property, valued at $3,811,000.

The Dent Road property was also the highest placing property in the South Okanagan last year.

The change in assessed value for properties in South Okanagan-Similkameen communities varies from an increase of 3.73 per cent in Keremeos to a low of 1.36 per cent in Summerland. Penticton's assessment on residential property is up 3.41 per cent, while Oliver and Osoyoos are up 1.59 per cent and 2 per cent respectively.

The total number of B.C. properties on the assessment roll is up by 1.06 per cent over 2015, at 1,996,112 properties, with a total value of $1.34 trillion dollars.

Total value of the properties listed is also up 11.1 per cent from last year.

New construction and development province-wide is assessed at $20.36 billion, up 8.9 per cent over last year’s value of $18.69 billion.
