Two of the regions ski hills kicked off their alpine ski and snowboard season today opening the slopes to those eager to get back on the mountains.

SilverStar Mountain Resort began it's alpine season today, Nov. 28, boasting an 86 centimetre snow base on the mountain with 23 groomed runs and three lifts up and running.

Kelowna's Big White Ski resort also chose today to open up its alpine season, with three runs open, serviced by two lifts. The mountain has a snow base of 54 cm and while there may be no fresh power, those who take to the slopes on day one of the season will be greeted with clear blue skies and sunshine throughout the day.

With four lifts already open along with 18 runs Kamloops Sun Peaks Resort was the first Interior B.C. mountain to open this year. The ski hill opened its slopes Nov. 23 and currently has a 64 cm snow base.

Penticton's Apex Mountain Resort has an alpine snow base of 70 cm but is holding off and not opening its slopes and lifts until Dec. 3.
