Two more deaths at Noric House in Vernon

Two more people have died as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak at the Noric House long-term care home in Vernon.

Interior Health announced the deaths in a news release today, Jan. 27. That brings the death toll at that facility to eight. COVID-19 has now killed 68 people in the Interior Health region.

There are 63 people at Noric House who have been infected during the outbreak, including 37 residents and 26 staff.

“Our daily case numbers continue to be high and we ask everyone to do their part in slowing the spread of COVID-19,” Susan Brown, Interior Health’s president and CEO Susan Brown, said in the release. “It’s crucial we keep our close contacts to our immediate households and avoid any unnecessary travel right now.”

There are a number of outbreaks in the region, including 66 cases at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. That includes 23 patients and 43 staff. One person has died.

Also in Kamloops, the Brocklehurst Gemstone long term care home has 16 residents and seven staff members infected. Two people have died.

Creekside Landing long-term care in Vernon has 37 cases including 24 residents and 13 staff. One person has died.

There are 27 residents and 10 staff members infected at Sunnybank long-term care in Oliver, with five deaths.

Heritage Square long-term care in Vernon has 68 cases including 47 residents. Eight people have died.

Heritage Retirement Residence in West Kelowna has 41 infected residents and five staff members. Three people have died.

Fourteen staff members have been infected with COVID-19 at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake.
