VERNON – Two men are dead after the dirt bike they were on hit a park utility trailer on East Vernon Road in Vernon Sunday morning.
RCMP were called to the crash at about 6:30 a.m., June 28, when a neighbour found the men, 23 and 24 years of age.
“Early indications in this investigation are that a single motorcycle with two males on it had been travelling northbound on East Vernon Road when it left the roadway and struck a parked utility trailer,” Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says.
Both the men were pronounced dead at the scene.
“It does not appear that they were wearing helmets at the time of the collision,” Noseworthy says, adding alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
She says investigators think the crash happened a hour or two before the wrecked bike and the men were found by the neighbour.
No names have been released.
Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
