Two dead in head-on crash with commercial truck north of Barriere

Two people were killed when a commercial truck drove into oncoming traffic on Highway 5 near Clearwater on Saturday.

On the morning of Dec. 2, BC Highway Patrol members in Clearwater and Barriere RCMP officers responded to a report of a collision between a commercial truck and a car on Highway 5, according to an RCMP media release.

RCMP said the commercial vehicle drove into the oncoming lane and hit an oncoming car head-on.

The two people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP are investigating the commercial truck driver’s behaviour leading up to the crash.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Clearwater BCHP at 250-674-2237.

Police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed this crash, the events leading up to the crash or who may have dashcam video to contact the BC Highway Patrol in Clearwater at 250-674-2237 and refer to file number 2023-4801.
