Two charged in Yaletown home invasion

A police officer guards a possible crime scene at unit A103 in the Yaletown condominium complex on Glenmore Road.

KELOWNA - A man and a woman have been charged following a home invasion at a Yaletown apartment last week.

Walter Daryl Spence and Michelle Dawn Pieritsch are charged with various robbery and restricted weapons offences. Spence is also charged with pointing a firearm.

Police were called to a break and enter at a residence in the 1400-block of Glenmore Road North around 9:45 a.m. on Feb. 17, Kelowna RCMP spokesman Const. Jesse O'Donaghey says in a press release. According to police, the resident of the home was there at the time and an 'altercation ensued' with a number of the suspects.

O'Donaghey will only say a firearm was involved, but declines to confirm earlier reports someone had been shot, as was reported by Global Okanagan.

In total five people were arrested after the violent home invasion which left one of the suspects with serious injuries police believe he sustained during the break-in.

Both suspects are being held in custody pending bail hearings.
