Kamloops RCMP responded to 338 calls over this past weekend including two assaults and an impaired driving investigation.

In a media statement issued today, April 13, police said officers are on the look out for an assault suspect after a man was found with injuries at the Acadian Inn. Officers were called to the motel around 11 p.m., April 11, where he was found in a room with injuries to his head and body.

"Although the man was uncooperative with police, surveillance footage showed the victim being chased, then assaulted by a man with a blunt object and physical force," Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said in a statement.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male around 5'8" tall with a heavier build. He had short brown hair and was wearing a checkered white button up shirt, a dark hooded jacket and blue jeans.

He later left with two women in an older red minivan with no hubcaps, police said.

RCMP were also called to Seymour Street and 4 Avenue on April 10 at around 10 p.m. after a man was struck with a blunt object. The victim was taken to hospital while officers remained on the scene to speak to possible witnesses and collect evidence.

The suspect was described as having red hair and a beard and was unhappy with the victim's presence in the area.

On the evening of April 11, a vehicle was clocked at speeds of 64 km/h above the posted limit on a divided highway.

The driver was stopped about 30 minutes later for excessive speeding where they also failed a roadside breath test exceeding 0.08 blood-alcohol content. The driver is prohibited from driving for 90 days and his vehicle is under a 30 day impound.
