Two arrested after high-risk traffic stop near Keremeos

A high-risk traffic stop near Keremeos earlier this week led to the arrest of two men wanted on outstanding warrants.

On Dec. 20, around 1:30 a.m., officers from the Penticton and Keremeos RCMP stopped a suspicious vehicle speeding on Highway 3A near the Keremeos Bypass Road, according to an RCMP media release.

The passengers, a 35-year-old from Penticton and a 33-year-old man from Kelowna, had outstanding warrants. They were both arrested and the driver was detained for further investigation as he displayed signs of impairment by drugs.

The vehicle was searched subsequent to the arrest which led to officers finding illegal drugs, a 3D printed firearm, break-in tools and weapons.

Along with their outstanding warrants, the men face additional charges including possessing break-and-enter instruments, possession of controlled substances and possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon.

The 35-year-old was held in custody as he awaits a bail hearing and the 33-year-old was released to appear in court at a later date.

“This high-risk vehicle stop led to the arrest of two wanted individuals, uncovering drugs and a 3D printed firearm,” Cpl. James Grandy, BC RCMP spokesperson, said in the release.
