Truck theft suspect in custody after crashing into Kelowna cop car

A 27-year-old man is facing a variety of charges after he was nabbed in an allegedly stolen truck by Kelowna RCMP earlier this week.

With the help of the RCMP Air Service, the driver and a passenger in the truck were stopped near the intersection of KLO Road and Benvoulin Road just before 2:30 p.m., July 19, according to an RCMP media release.

"Officers attempted to conduct the arrest of the occupants of the vehicle which fled, colliding with an attending police vehicle," Cpl. Guillaume Tanguay with the Kelowna RCMP Target Team said in the release. “The stolen vehicle subsequently became disabled a short distance away and officers were able to effect the arrest without further incident.”

Brendan Latimer, 27, has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, possession of stolen property and obstruction of a police officer after fleeing police on July 19.

Latimer is being kept in jail until he’s scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 3.

Bailee Adams, 24, was a passenger in the vehicle, RCMP said. She was charged with failure to comply with a court order and released pending a future court date.
