Truck loses brakes on Suicide Hill in Vernon

RCMP

VERNON - Suicide Hill in Vernon has claimed another unwitting victim, North Okanagan RCMP say.

Police were called this morning, July 5, to the 2400 block of 30th Avenue after a report of a truck that had crashed backward into a retaining wall.

A man from Burnaby, who police say was unfamiliar with the road locals call Suicide Hill, lost control of the truck he was driving when his brakes reportedly failed, media relations Const. Kelly Brett said in a press release.

No one was injured although damage to the retaining wall was extensive, Brett added.

The driver of the truck was issued a notice and order under the Motor Vehicle Act for an unsecure load and an inspection, the press release said.
