The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s basketball team looks for its first victory of the 2016-17 Canada West regular season this weekend.

The ‘Pack (0-2) will pay a visit to Manitoba (1-1) and the Bisons. The teams will square off Friday and Saturday (Nov 11-12).

“They are a good team,” said Thompson Rivers head coach Scott Clark. “They can score like crazy.  In this league, most nights the team you are going to play against is good and well coached. They are talented. It sounds cliché but we have to do what we do and look after things that are under our control. If we play well and the result is in our favor that’s great.  The first objective is to play well.”

The WolfPack dropped their opening two games to the number two team in USports: The UBC Thunderbirds last weekend. Clark did see his team play better as the weekend progressed. “We played the way we are capable of playing on Saturday.  Friday, that wasn’t the case. I thought we played relatively good basketball on Saturday. That is the goal: to play good basketball and see what happens from there.”

Volodymyr Iegorov  (5th year, forward, Donetsk, Ukraine) is second in the Canada West in three point percentage (71.4).  He is followed in that stat by Justus Alleyn (70 percent).  Alleyn is the Canada West leader in field goal percent (65.2) and tied for third in the league in points per game (24) while teammate Keith Omoerah is tied for fourth in rebounds per game (9.5).

These games are the first of four on the road for the ‘Pack. They visit the University of Alberta Golden Bears next weekend (Nov 18-19) before closing out the pre-Christmas portion of their season on November 25-26 against the University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat.  Tip off on Friday November 25th will be 8 pm on the Warner Rentals Court.

This weekend’s games will be webcast on a pay per view basis on Canada West TV.
