TRENDING NOW: Colbert pulls hamstring during monologue; Zamboni driver saves the day

You know you've made the big time when you are included in a late night talk show host's monologue.

So is the case with David Ayres, the 42-year-old Toronto Zamboni driver who helped the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-3 last week as the team's emergency goaltender when both the Canes netminders went down with injuries.

The host of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert faked a hamstring pull and cried out, "I don’t think I can finish the monologue."

Of course, Ayres appeared out of the wings to save the day.
