Residents can honour a loved one this holiday season by placing an ornament on a Tree of Memories at the Kelowna Memorial Cemetery.

Visitors to the cemetery can place an ornament on the tree under the dome in Promontory Green Interment Garden or on the spruce trees by the Legacy Gardens between Monday, Dec. 5 and Thursday, Jan. 5 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

“During the holidays, we often think of loved ones who have passed,” says David Gatzke, Cemetery Manager. “By placing an ornament on a Tree of Memories, families and friends can pay tribute to a loved one even if they are not interred in the Kelowna municipal cemetery.”

The Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery is located at 1991 Bernard Avenue (intersection of Bernard Avenue and Spall Road).

Ornaments from previous years are placed on the memorial trees as a perpetual memory. Those who wish to keep their ornaments should retrieve them after January 6 by contacting the Cemetery office at 250-862-5518.

The Tree of Memories program has been offered annually since 1998.
