If you take your pup to the Ord Road dog park in Brock, there are some changes coming.

During the construction of the Trans Mountain Pipeline, the Ord Road Dog Park will be closed. A release from the City of Kamloops states that Trans Mountain has agreed to pay for the creation of a new permanent dog park to serve people and their pooches.

The new Aviation Way Dog Park will be located at Tranquille Road and Aviation Way and will be open and operational before Ord Road dog park closes. The Trans Mountain Pipeline project is expected to start construction in Kamloops in the early spring, and once the project is complete, Ord Road dog park will be restored and reopen to the public.

“We recognize how important physical activity is to people and their pets, and we understand that the temporary closure of a dog park can have a significant impact on residents’ ability to stay active,” Lizette Parsons Bell, director of stakeholder engagement and communications for the Trans Mountain Expansion Project says in a media release.

“We appreciate our ongoing collaboration with the City of Kamloops and are pleased to plan and finance the construction of a new park that will provide residents a place to take their dogs during construction and that will be a lasting legacy for the community.”

The City of Kamloops notes that there will be a separate rock face mitigation project near the Ord Road dog park starting from late January to March. The release notes the Ord Road dog park will remain open, while occasional detours and traffic control will take place.
