KELOWNA - There really is an app for everything.

A vehicle stolen sometime overnight from a business in the 1500-block of Harvey Avenue was quickly located thanks to a GPS tracking app on an iPad stolen along with the pickup truck.

The report of the theft came in around 6:30 a.m., April 3. The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado was found in the alley behind the 700-block of Fuller Avenue by the vehicle owner but the iPad and spare key were still missing.

The owner has used the ‘Find my phone’ app on the tablet to track the vehicle and then the police and the vehicle owner used the coordinates to locate the suspect, who was still in possession of the stolen iPad, along with the spare key and other items stolen from the truck.

A 17-year-old Kelowna male was arrested and is facing potential charges of possession of property obtained by crime, theft of a motor vehicle over $5,000, theft under $5,000 and fail to comply with a sentence under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He appeared in court yesterday, April 4.
