PENTICTON - Two Penticton tourism organizations are heading towards the formation of a single tourism promoting entity.
Tourism Penticton and the Penticton Hospitality Association announced in a media release today, Oct. 7, their intention to dissolve the existing organizations in favour of a new collaborative organization to be known as The Penticton Travel Society.
Members of both organizations will vote on the matter at an extraordinary general meeting to be held Friday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Penticton Lakeside Resort, the release states.
Tourism Penticton chair Jessical Dolan says its a move tourism stakeholders have been advocating for some time. She says a lot of time and effort has gone towards ensuring The Penticton Travel Society will be not only sustainable, but supportive of the tourist industry as a whole.
It is anticipated dissolution of the existing organizations could take some time, but those actions should not affect the daily operations for the new society, the release says.
The meeting next Friday will also include a presentation on the current state of tourism in the region prior to an unveiling of the new branding for the new organization.
The two organizations announced earlier this year plans to unite to form a new society.
