Toddler found safe in a wilderness area near Beaverdell

A major search operation was launched yesterday after a two-year-old boy wandered away from his family at the Clark Lake recreational area north of Beaverdell.

The call came into Kelowna RCMP at around 12:40 p.m. yesterday, Aug. 12, according to an RCMP media release.

Officers on the ground were joined by Central Okanagan Search and Rescue members, conservation officers, RCMP air and dog services.

Just after 3:30 p.m., a family member found the boy some distance way.

“The RCMP is very pleased to confirm the boy was located, safe and sound, despite wandering several kilometres from where he was last seen,” reads the release. “Amazingly the boy was seemingly uninjured during the ordeal.”
