KAMLOOPS – Last weekend three officers from the Tk'emlups Rural detachment went beyond the call of duty to help when a family on a motorcycle trip became separated and stranded.

The family was riding in the Lac Du Bois grasslands near Kamloops on Saturday, May 27 when the group broke off into two groups, according to an email posted to the RCMP website.

When the trail became treacherous, the group following wasn't able to take the same path and tried to turn around. Eventually they ended up stuck between a washed out road and a locked gate. They had two kids with them and managed to get cell service and called 911.

Three officers from the Kamloops Rural detachment found the stranded party, stayed with them and made a plan to get them out safely.

"Three RCMP officers found us, they were amazing. Not once did they make us feel stupid or ashamed for getting ourselves into a predicament like this," the email says.

One officer stayed with them for hours and the family expressed their immense gratitude in the email.

"They made us feel safe, they told us they were just here doing their job and not to feel bad for needing them."

The email is signed by the Peck family: Siobhan, Marissa, Liam and Desmond.
