Tk’emlúps man charged with assault and trafficking a person

A Tk’emlúps man has been charged with several offences involving a weapon after an assault this past weekend.

Charles Louis Dumont, 46, from Tk’emlúps has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, trafficking a person and two counts of threats, according to a press release from RCMP.

Tk’emlúps RCMP launched an investigation after allegations were made between two people who know each other at around 9:45 a.m. Sunday, May 26.

Frontline officers tracked down and arrested Dumont and found a victim with non-life-threatening injuries.

“A police presence was visible in the area of Kamloopa Road while officers secured the scene as part of the ongoing investigation,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release. “Anyone who has information that may be related to this incident is asked to please contact police as soon as possible.”

Dumont is in custody awaiting a court date on May 28.
