British Columbia's newest mountain coaster will be open for the summer season in just a few weeks.

Last year, Cypress Mountain Resort in West Vancouver announced a new mountain coaster will be opening at its location in 2021.

The coaster features 1.7 kilometres of track, 272 vertical metres and can reach speeds up to 40 kilometres an hour.

Tickets for the Eagle Coaster are now available online. The coaster will open July 12, according to the resort's website.

The ride takes off from the top of Eagle Express Quad Chair on Black Mountain. Riders can safely reach speeds of up to 40 km winding down the track with forested vistas and bends in the track.

Fabricated by Austrian manufacturer Sunkid, the mountain coaster features a low to the ground single-track design with backrest carts equipped with a hand brake, so riders can control their own speed.

B.C. currently only has one other mountain coaster, the Pipe Mountain Coaster in Revelstoke.

Buy tickets for the Cypress coaster through the resort's website.
