The ticket lottery for the hugely popular Half Corked Marathon kicks off early next month.

The lottery for tickets to the Oliver-area race opens on Nov. 5 at 9 a.m. sharp.

This is the 12th annual version of the scenic, 18 kilometre marathon through Oliver’s wine country with participants sampling award-winning wines along the way. It takes place May 30, 2020, with room this year for 1,500 runners.

The event, which has been named Canada’s Event of the Year, happens on a weekend that has grown to include the Primavera and Dinner on the Farm events, according to a media release. Other nearby wineries are also staging events in conjunction with the Half Corked marathon weekend.

“As we celebrate our 12th anniversary, we are incredibly excited not only for the race itself but for the entire event weekend,” Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country executive director Jennifer Busmann said in the release. “We are always looking for new ways to partner with our valued winemakers and chefs and are excited to offer guests the opportunity to participate in events in different areas of our diverse region."

The lottery will open at www.oliverosoyoos.com at 9 a.m. Nov. 5 and closes Nov. 11 at 11:59 p.m.

Successful entrants will be chosen at random and notified on Nov. 15 of their chance to purchase two tickets to the 2020 event.
