Three ways to give Shuswap Trails just in time for Christmas

The Shuswap, British Columbia – Tickets for the annual Shuswap Trails Party and Fundraiser are ready just in the nick of time for Christmas stockings (thanks to Lakeside Printing!). And the Shuswap Trail Alliance is raising the bar this year with a three-way last-minute option to give the gift of Shuswap Trails for Christmas. It’s all in support of 2017 Shuswap Trail projects throughout the region – and as part of Canada’s 150th Celebration, it’s a big year for trails.

Start by stuffing Shuswap Trails in stockings with a ticket to the Shuswap Trails Party and Fundraiser. This year’s party features a one-time special reunion with the band, Scarecrow, along with DJ Patrick Ryley, local flavours featuring Village West Urban Market, the Barley Station Brewery, and Larch Hills Winery. The February 3rd party builds critical funding to support Shuswap Trail projects throughout the region. Shuswap Trail Party and Fundraiser Tickets are available at Skookum Cycle and Ski in Salmon Arm.

Then add to that stocking with a copy of the Trail Mix feel-good guide, also available at the Salmon Arm Art Gallery. The guide features 15 Shuswap trails, trail guides, artists, and photographers who exhibited their stories in art, photography, and story at this summer’s Trail Mix exhibition at the Salmon Arm Art Gallery. It’s a beautiful gift – part trail guide, part coffee table feature.

And finally, Shuswap Trail Alliance partners are building an endowment with the Shuswap Community Foundation to ensure support for Shuswap Trails continues for generations to come. They’re inviting everyone to become part of the legendary Shuswap Trail story. So you can round that stocking stuffer out with a gift donation to the Shuswap Trails Legacy Fund.

Regional partners worked together to create 7 new sections of trail throughout the Shuswap in 2016, maintained and upgraded over 200 km of trail, installed 160 new trail signs, and prepared plans for over 75 km of future greenway trails including preliminary concept plans for the proposed Sicamous-to-Armstrong rail-trail. All funding through the Shuswap Trail Alliance goes directly toward mobilizing those new plans for 2017 and helps us celebrate of Canada’s 150th.
