KAMLOOPS – A three-vehicle collision on Highway 5A in Kamloops sent three people to the hospital this morning.
Kamloops RCMP were called to the crash on Highway 5A near Rogers Way at around 8 a.m. today, Feb. 8, according to a media release.
A southbound pickup truck lost control on black ice and crossed the centre line and hit a northbound pickup, police say. A third vehicle behind the northbound pickup was hit by a piece of flying debris.
“There was extensive damage done to both pickups. Three people that were travelling inside of the trucks were taken to Royal Inland Hospital by ambulance for non life-threatening injuries,” Cpl. Jodi Shelkie in the release.
A fourth person in the third vehicle was checked on scene by paramedics.
Both trucks were towed from the scene and the highway is open.
Police remind drivers that road conditions are treacherous and to please slow down.
