PENTICTON - Three people face charges following the seizure of a large quantity of drugs and weapons by Penticton RCMP.
Officers with the Penticton detachment’s newly formed street enforcement unit executed a search warrant on a Dynes Avenue residence on July 5, according to an RCMP media release.
The officers were joined by members of the targeted enforcement unit, general duty officers and police dog services as a search was conducted of the heavily fortified residence following a two-week-long investigation into illegal drug activity in the residence.
Police say a large amount of cocaine and fentanyl was found, along with several prohibited weapons including a taser, brass knuckles and several types of ammunition.
“Seizures of this quantity will have a definite impact and availability of these drugs at the street level," Staff Sgt. Bob Vatamaniuck said in the release. "The street enforcement unit will continue to perform drug enforcement in the South Okanagan as there is no doubt drug trafficking is the main driver of peripheral crime in Penticton, including theft of property."
Two men and a woman face numerous charges, police say.
