Three Oliver men arrested after shots fired

Three men were arrested and one remains in custody after Oliver police executed a search warrant on an Oliver residence yesterday, June 2, 2020.

Three Oliver men are facing firearms charges and one man is facing additional drug offences following execution of a police search warrant yesterday.

Oliver and Osoyoos RCMP responded to a call of multiple shots fired near a residence on Pine Ridge Drive in Oliver yesterday, June 2, at 7 p.m.

Police found spent shell casings on the ground and apprehended three adult men, according to an Osoyoos RCMP release.

A search warrant on the residence revealed two assault-style semi-automatic weapons, a quantity of ammunition, methamphetamine and cocaine.

Resident 43-year-old David James O’Brien was charged with possession of a firearm without a license, careless use/storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to an order and possession of a controlled substance.

O’Brien remains in custody and is next scheduled to appear in court on June 11.

Two other men, ages 39 and 33 years old, both Penticton residents, have been released on undertaking to appear in court on Sept. 9 to face firearms charges.

“Any offences involving firearms or drugs will be aggressively investigated. Persons involved in this type of criminal activity will be held accountable,” Oliver RCMP commander Cpl. Brian Evans said in the release.
