The most expensive home in the Thompson-Okanagan is in Kelowna and has an assessed value of more than $10.3 million.
Property valuations for 2019 were released today, Jan. 2, by B.C. Assessment.
The modernist mansion on Kelowna's waterfront at 4358 Hobson Rd. was valued by B.C. Assessment at $10.36 million as of July 1, 2019, retaining its number one spot even though it lost roughly $200,000 in value over the past year.
The home had been listed on the City of Kelowna’s property tax sale list earlier in 2019 but the owner did partially pay the outstanding tax bill so it was not sold for the $161,000 in taxes owed.
It was one of five Kelowna homes that made the top 10 most pricy list for the Interior of the province in 2018. Only three Kelowna properties made that list in 2019.
West Kelowna went from two to four in the top 10 while a $10.3 million home at 12990 Pixton Rd. in Lake Country jumped from the number seven spot to number two as its value rose by more than $2 million.
Lake Country had two homes in the top 10 and Peachland rounded out the group with one.
Kelowna had 15 of the top 25 most expensive homes in the Interior in 2019, down from 18 in 2018.
There were only five homes in the Thompson-Okanagan valued in the top 100 that were not in the Central Okanagan. Four were in Coldstream and one in Summerland. There were three Kootenay properties that made it into the top 100 for the Interior of B.C.
While $10.4 million is the most valuable home in the Interior, it pales when compared to the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island, ranking 469th in the province. Topping the provincial list is a property at 3085 Point Grey Rd. in Vancouver, valued at $64.9 million.
