The grumbling and complaints from shovelers and drivers has one easy antidote — amazing conditions on the area ski hills after four days of heavy snow.

At Harper Mountain near Kamloops, it’s been snowing non-stop for the past four days, said general manager Norm Daburger.

Over the last week, the resort has seen 40 centimetres of new snow, 30 cm of which accumulated in the last four days, he said.

“It’s been an unbelievable year,” Daburger said.

The resort has a base of 235 cm, whereas it’s normally 140 cm at this time of year.

It's the same all around the Okanagan and Kamloops areas.

At Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna, 75 cm of snow fell this week. The resort's base has reached three metres (302 cm), according to the resort’s snow report, making it the third-best season Big White has had in 20 years and continues a trend.

Last year's season had a cumulative snowfall of 682 cm, the snow report said.

Sun Peaks Ski Resort near Kamloops is also seeing snowy weather, with a base of 199 cm and 46 cm of snowfall over the week, according to the resort’s website. Periods of snow are expected for Saturday, with a mix of cloudy and clear skies from Monday to Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of -5 C.

Apex Mountain Resort near Penticton has seen a huge accumulation of snow this week with 161 cm over the last six days, according to the resort's website. It currently has a base of 277 cm. New snow will fall at the resort over the next few days, according to Snow Forecast, with temperatures reaching a max of -2 C.

Silver Star near Vernon has a base of 236 cm and has accumulated 36 cm of snow over the past week, according to its website. Temperatures will reach a max of -3 C over the next few days and light snow is expected.

Baldy Mountain Resort near Oliver has a base of 185 cm and 77 cm of snow has fallen over the past week, the resort's website said. Temperatures will be below freezing with a max of -3 C for the next few days and a dusting of snow is expected, said Snow Forecast.

You'll want to get up there while the powder is fresh. Environment Canada is only calling for mostly clear skies next week though light snow may be expected at higher elevations.
