Escape rooms in Kelowna and Kamloops will soon be open for business.

Xperience Kelowna, a virtual arcade and escape room business, has announced it will reopen its doors May 29 with new physical distancing measures in place. Exit Kelowna and Exit Kamloops are also reopening May 25, with new measures in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to their Facebook pages.

Exit locations will be open from Monday to Thursday from 3 to 10 p.m., Friday from 3-12 p.m. and on weekends from 2 p.m. to 12 a.m., according to a Facebook post.

Xperience Kelowna will be open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 1:30 to 9:30 p.m., according to an email.

It will also:

  • Thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing all flat surfaces, high touch surfaces, all door handles, the lobby desk, debit machine, the sign in table, and washrooms after every group. We’ll also disinfect equipment in the escape rooms and virtual reality stations prior to each group starting their experience.
  • Only allowing one group of a maximum six people every half an hour.
  • Scheduling only one staff member during games.
  • Asking players to wait and sign waivers at the top our stairs prior to entering the lobby and will not be accepting cash.
  • Asking customers to exit the building using the backdoor to prevent coming into contact with others.
  • Wearing masks and gloves.
  • Requesting customers bring and wear their own masks/face coverings to our establishment.
  • Taping “x” on the floor where we will ask customers to stand, which helps ensure we can keep groups of players six feet (two m) apart.
  • Will not be taking player pictures for the foreseeable future. This is so our staff do not have to touch player’s belongings. We will also stop offering lockers for player belongings for the foreseeable future.
