Thompson-Nicola landfills update rules to accept waste, recyclables as usual

FILE PHOTO

As of April 21, all regularly accepted garbage, recyclables and yard waste will again be accepted at Thompson-Nicola Regional District landfills.

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the regional district has implemented physical distancing protocols, increasing their staff to ensure compliance, while limiting the number of customers allowed access to the landfill at one time.

As a result, waiting in line to access the landfill is to be expected and all users are expected to adhere to policies in place.

The public should only visit the disposal facilities if absolutely necessary, follow the direction of staff and ensure their materials are sorted ahead of time.

People must also bring full loads in order to avoid multiple trips, and minimize their time on site as much as possible.
