Every Canadian - every business owner, employer, corporate executive and consumer - needs to step back…breathe deeply…then disregard almost all of Donald Trump’s bullshit threats. Seriously, don’t fall for his lies and bluster and utter nonsense.

He is playing you…or trying to…and I don’t want you to fall for his ploy. Donald Trump likes nothing more than creating chaos…making people feel uneasy…fearful. He enjoys this when he perpetrates it on Americans. Do you think he doesn’t like it even more when he can wreak havoc on foreigners…and make no mistake…that’s how Trump and his MAGA cult view all Canadians.

He knows - and economists hate this because it’s true and undermines real facts and real numbers - that perception of the economy is as much or even more psychological than fact-based. This vengeful toddler is already trying to wreck America…after two just weeks…but you don’t have to let him get in your head.

Someone has told this ignoramus-in-chief that Canadians are nice, conservative and easy to push around. I say someone told him because he has the reading comprehension of six-year-old. Hey, Canadians always say “sorry” even when it’s not their fault. Believe me, Trump is laughing at you…derisively.

Look, I know you’re Canadian and you hate name-calling…and not being nice and fair to folks. Sorry. Get over it. I’ve known this guy since February 1980…45 years…so I know everything you need to know about Trump. He’s not complex. He’s not unpredictable. And, Lord…he’s not smart.

You think this whole bit about Canada being the 51st state is anything but absurd? He’s doing the political version of the Muhammad Ali rope-a-dope. You think the threats of 25 percent tariffs are real? Come on…it’s not going to happen.

Canada doesn’t need someone from Ottawa to dignify Trump’s empty threats with an “Oh, yeah…well, we’ll do this” response. No, no, no. Personally I’d like to see a huge-ass jumbotron in every province along the 5,525-mile border facing the U.S. that simply flashes “Trump, Go *uck Yourself!” Leave it on day and night.

You can’t let a bully…bully. That’s what they do…Trump is a bully…even worse he’s a sociopath…a psychopath. But even more, he’s a coward. And coupled with not being smart…most of the ideas he has will be ruled unconstitutional…even by what is easily the most corrupt U.S. Supreme Court in history.

Canadians need to tend to Canadian business…Canadian interests. Trump is not going to do 90 percent of what he threatens…not to say he won’t do some incredibly stupid stuff. Remember, there’s an other U.S. election in less than two years. Meanwhile, keep the Trump pretenders out of Canadian government…and if you own a business…invest in the future…because it is now and you control it.

Canadians have a choice…a clear choice. Stand up…do what makes sense for you, your families, your businesses…your country. Otherwise, you’re being played…you’re reacting to the actions of someone who simply isn’t that good at anything he’s ever done.

I love my country of origin…the U.S. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to wave the flag and support an administration that undermines everything America always aspired to be. It’s not my country…right or wrong…it’s my country…right!

I care as much about Canada as where I was born. Indeed, I love Canada…and would fight to my death to keep it the True North that it is. Is it perfect? No, but let us all do everything we can to make it the best it can be.

Meanwhile, never forget that it is you - Canadians - that control your destiny. I know it’s hard, but go practice saying, “Trump, go *uck yourself!” Then, do the right thing…boldly. It’s a Canadian thing…you’ve got this.
