This will be the Central Okanagan’s first hotel designed with COVID-19 in mind

This new West Kelowna hotel comes with all the necessary COVID-19 safety precautions.

A 115-room hotel currently under construction in Westbank First Nation will incorporate safe distancing and other COVID-19 precautions.

“We have the advantage of building a brand new property that can accommodate new and important safety design features, such as a socially-distanced check in, a lounge and breakfast room that allows for socially-distanced seating, as well as hand sanitizer stations,” Daniel Bok, controller for ABC Group Hotels Ltd, said in an email to iNFOnews.ca.

The six-storey TownePlace Suites by Marriott Okanagan is at 3551 Carrington Road, overlooking the Two Eagles Golf Course and Okanagan Lake.

Each room comes with a kitchenette, living room and separate bedroom.

“The suites will provide guests with the option to have comfortable long-term stays in West Kelowna as an alternative to Airbnb,” Bok wrote. “The hotel will cater to travelers seeking residential style suites with personal kitchens.”

That will also allow them to minimize contact with other people if they so choose.

“Our mission is to create a hotel that will utilize the industry's highest safety and sanitary standards,” he wrote. “We are also taking the initiative to cleaning and disinfecting the rooms and public areas. Suites will be cleaned, disinfected, and sealed until the guest checks in, ensuring the safest travel experience possible.”

The hotel will have an indoor swimming pool, hot tub and water slide along with a fitness centre, outdoor patio with barbecues and a fire pit.

There will be a 42-seat restaurant with room for another 20 on an outdoor patio that will be open in the evenings. There will also be a breakfast room, wine bar, coffee bar and other amenities.

Bok wrote that ABC Group Hotels is a small company that has been “involved with developing and operating hotel projects in Alberta in the past 15 years.”
