This is what happened to that envelope of cash turned in to Vernon RCMP

VERNON - A week after a significant amount of cash was found on a Vernon sidewalk the rightful owner of the envelope of cash has been found.

A woman out walking her dog saw the envelope in the area of Bodwell Road and Pottery Road at 8 a.m. on March 4 and turned it in to police. There was a significant amount of cash inside and the purpose for the cash was written on the envelope.

The money is now in the hands of the owner, according to an RCMP media release. It turns out a family member picked up the rent money that was tucked inside a white envelope, but lost it before getting home.

"It was a lot of money to lose and if I lost it I would want someone to turn it in," the woman who found it says.

RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says the owner of the cash is very grateful and will be in touch with the finder.
