LUMBY - Thieves made off with a large haul of scrap metal in Lumby last week, and while not exactly gold, the material was quite valuable.
RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says the large quantity of scrap copper pipe stolen from a scrap metal yard on Trinity Valley Road the night of Oct. 13 was worth around $6,000.
Also taken were two metal cutting torches and a pair of industrial metal saws.
It's the latest in a string of thefts that has seen items such as corrugated culverts and sheets of hockey arena glass disappear.
Noseworthy says there’s no evidence to suggest the thefts are connected, but police are continuing to investigate.
Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to contact the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
