Thief tracked down in North Okanagan woods after abandoning stolen vehicle

A 27-year-old Enderby man was tracked down by a police dog after leading RCMP on a chase through the bush.

The incident started at about 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, after a plain clothes North Okanagan RCMP officer spotted a stolen vehicle drive onto a property on Canyon Road in Enderby.

When police approached, the man drove off into the bush along a dirt road until the vehicle became disabled.

He then fled on foot so a police dog was called in to track him through thick bush to a home on Canyon Road where he was arrested.

The man has been charged with possession of stolen property and flight from the police.
