Thick smoke returns to Kamloops, but no new fires

After a short break from the smoke, the winds brought it right back rather suddenly this evening.

KAMLOOPS - Thick smoke moved in quickly to Kamloops again this evening, but thankfully it's not from any new fires.

Rachel Witt, information officer for B.C. Wildfire, says they have been inundated with calls about the smoke but assures residents it's all from the Elephant Hill fire that has been burning for weeks, well outside of the city.

"It's just the way the wind shifted today," she says. "It seemed to come in rather quickly."

The air quality index scores Kamloops at a two out of 10 but likely needs updating.
