KAMLOOPS - Police in Kamloops are reminding cyclists there is an app that can help you retrieve your recovered stolen bike.
Kamloops RCMP say each year thousands of recovered stolen bicycles across the province go to auctions or charity because the police can’t determine ownership.
The 529 Garage app is designed so cyclists can reclaim a lost or stolen bike that has been found and returned to police.
As well, Kamloops RCMP are offering a free tamper-proof 529 sticker showing the bike is registered with the program.
Registration events are happening throughout the city this summer.
On Saturday, April 21 police will be registering bikes at the River Beaver Race at the bottom of the Bike Ranch in Juniper from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If you can't get to one of the events you can register your bike using the 529 Garage app, then contact Const. Sofie Winkels at sofie.winkels@rcmp-grc.gc.ca to obtain the free tamper-proof decal.
