The 14-year-old Vernon boy charged with murder has been released

Jason Hardy, 42, was found dead in Polson Park Aug. 26, 2015. Three people have now been charged with his murder.

VERNON - A 14-year-old Greater Vernon boy charged with murder is out of jail — at least for the time being.

The teen, whose identity is protected under the Youth Act, was released on bail Sept. 22. Details such as what the bail is set at, and the conditions of his release, were not made available by the Vernon court registry.

Meanwhile, two co-accused, Brandon Wellington, 18, and Tal Kalum La Riviere, 28, both remain in custody.

The three individuals are all charged with the second degree murder of Jason Hardy, 42, whose body was found in Polson Park in the early morning hours of Aug. 26.

Police say the boy and the two men knew each other, and that La Riviere had some history with the RCMP, but are releasing little else about the circumstances of the case.

Police continue to seek additional witnesses, but Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says they have a ‘very strong case’ against the three people charged. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
