Thai Fusion in West Kelowna forced to close its doors

West Kelowna's Thai Fusion restaurant was riddled with eleven bullets early Friday morning, June 2, 2017.

WEST KELOWNA - A West Kelowna Thai restaurant is closing for good after it was riddled with bullets last week.

Thai Fusion on Louie Drive in West Kelowna has been vandalized eight times in over just two years, attacks that included windows being smashed and an attempted arson. In the most recent attack on June 2, eleven bullets were shot through the front of the restaurant.

“We do this with a heavy heart and no small amount of apprehension, but the time has come, after so many attacks of vandalism, for us to make a concrete decision,” said a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page, June 3. “The attacks on our restaurant have merely grown so steadily that, at this point, we cannot and will not risk the safety of our wonderful customers or staff,” the Facebook post said.

Although police are investigating the incidents, the perpetrators have not been identified.

“We want to thank you, sincerely and from the bottom of our hearts, for all your support, kindness, and love. It was each and every one of you, both regulars and those simply willing to give us a try, who allowed us to run a restaurant we were exceedingly proud of. It is your faces we will miss seeing most of all, at least on such a regular basis.”
