KELOWNA - The RauDZ Creative Concepts brand is moving into the South Okanagan.
Terrafina at the Hester Creek Estate Winery in Oliver is partnering with RauDZ, according to a media release. RauDZ Creative Concepts currently includes RauDZ Regional Table and micro bar & bites, both in Kelowna.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with the farmers and artisans of the South Okanagan in what I consider to be the Chef’s ‘Ultimate Playground,’” Chef Rod Butters, says in the release.
Butters, along with co-creater and owner Audrey Surrao — who represents the ‘au’ in RauDZ — and Hester Creek director of hospitality Roger Gillespie have known each other since the late 1990s when they worked together at the Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino.
“I have spent the last 15 years tasting and building relationships with winemakers and wineries up and down the valley, never imaging this would happen,” Surrao says in the release. “It’s truly a perfect fit.”
Terrafina, which means ‘from the earth,’ is set on the 105 acre Hester Creek Winery nestled in the Golden Mile Bench in the South Okanagan.
Butters says he plans incorporate local flavours into the Tuscan-themed cuisine Terrafina currently offers. Eating local is an intrinsic part of the RauDZ philosophy.
Current Chef de Cuisine Jenna Pillon will work with Butters as well as RauDZ Executive Chef Brock Bowes in order to infuse the RauDZ flare into Terrafina’s menu.
“‘When you cook with passion you feed the soul’ will be the mantra of the culinary team,” Butters says.
Before it will be ready to open in April, Terrafina will undergo an interior facelift in order to synthesize the restaurant with RauDZ other spaces.
In addition to showcasing the award-winning Hester Creek wines, there will be a rotating tap dedicated to local beer, along with cocktails that will feature local distillers.
