MELBOURNE, Australia - Canada's Milos Raonic lost in his third-round match at the Australian Open on Saturday, going down 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10) to the 22nd-ranked Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria.
The match, billed as a "next-gen" encounter between two of the sport's rising stars, lasted two and a half hours. The loss kept Raonic from reaching a third fourth-round spot in Melbourne over the past four years.
Raonic saved four match points in a dramatic fourth-set tiebreaker, raining down 21 aces in his losing effort which included 50 winners, 39 unforced errors and one break of serve in his favour.
Raonic, who is from Thornhill, Ont., was seeded 11th.
