Temporary Rose Avenue closure at Kelowna General Hospital

Please be advised that Rose Ave. on the Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) campus will be closed for three weeks in May and early June. The closures are necessary to support construction activity on the Interior Heart and Surgical Centre.

Rose Ave. from the east parkade to Pandosy St. will be closed from May 12 to June 2. Portions of the Rose Ave. surface parking lot will also be closed. The closures will not impact access to the parkades at KGH.

In order to access the KGH parkades from Pandosy St., visitors are asked to detour down Royal Ave. or Christleton Ave., onto Abbott St. and enter the KGH site from the west end of Rose Ave.

These closures are necessary to install and connect utilities to the new Interior Heart and Surgical Centre, currently under construction at the corner of Pandosy St. and Rose Ave.

The construction company, PCL Constructors, will have flag people on hand for the duration of the work, and detour signs will clearly indicate the new traffic patterns. Please be courteous to the flag people as they try to do a difficult job under hazardous conditions.

There will be no change to the Emergency patient dropoff. Patients requiring emergency treatment can be dropped off at the Emergency Department entrance on Royal Avenue.

Non-emergency patients may be dropped off at one of three entrances:
Lab building (Dr. Walter Anderson Building). Take the elevator to the third floor and walk across Pandosy Skywalk to access the Centennial Building and the rest of the KGH site.
Main hospital entrance (Centennial Building). Drop patients off at the main entrance off Pandosy Street.
West side of KGH (Royal Building). Drop patients off at the west entrance from Strathcona Avenue.

If possible, during this time, please plan to take extra time to get to appointments at KGH. Try to carpool, walk or use transit. And please be respectful of the neighbourhood residents when parking.
