Kelowna Mounties are asking motorists to avoid the 1400-block of KLO Road after a crash they say seriously injured a 14-year-old boy.
RCMP said a pedestrian, the 14-year-old boy, was transported to the hospital just after noon Aug. 2 by BC Emergency Health Services with what are believed to be serious and potentially life-threatening injuries incurred at the crosswalk.
"The driver of the vehicle has remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation," an RCMP spokesperson said.
Police are now working to determine the cause of the crash.
"Due to the severity of this collision, both eastbound lanes and one westbound lane of KLO road are closed as part of the investigation. The length of this closure is currently unknown," RCMP said.
No further information is being released at this time.
If you witnessed this collision, or have dashcam or surveillance video, you are asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250- 540-5036 and reference file number 2021-49436.
