Teams taking up the challenge to get colour blasted in support of medical care in the Central Okanagan

KELOWNA -  More than 500 participants, which include 60 teams, are already registered for the inaugural Grant Thornton 5K Run in Colour happening on September 21st! " This  truly is a community event and we've had very enthusiastic support from students at UBC Okanagan and Okanagan College as well as from families with young kids wanting to have a meaningful yet fun experience," said Doug Rankmore, CEO of Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) Foundation, organizers of the event. "Our goal is to attract more than 1,000 participants supported by approximately 250 volunteers."

As Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) Foundation is a non-profit organization, this 'colour run' is different from many others in that all funds raised will provide support for much-needed equipment and patient care and comfort at KGH.  In addition to KGH, the Foundation also serves Brookhaven Care Home, Cottonwoods Extended Care Home, David Lloyd-Jones Home, Three Links Manor and the Central Okanagan Hospice House.  As KGH is the Central Okanagan’s primary acute health facility and a tertiary referral hospital, it serves communities in the Central Okanagan and beyond.

The route for the event, which starts and ends at Celebration Plaza in Waterfront Park, is online at www.5krunincolour.com  The run starts at 10:00AM but arrive by 9:00AM as the fun will start a lot earlier! The entry fee of $45 includes a t-shirt, sunglasses and a goody bag! Kids five- and-under are free but they will not receive a t-shirt or glasses. We will also have a special prize for the most unique team and individual costumes!

With just more than a week to go register today at www.5krunincolour.com or contact Chandel Christie at 250-862-4438. If you have registered and not received confirmation, via e-mail make sure you are registered for the Grant Thornton 5K Run in Colour as this is the only run of its kind in the Okanagan. All details are available on the website. Make sure you get the latest information and join us on Facebook at  https://www.facebook.com/GrantThornton5kRunInColour

The Kelowna General Hospital Foundation (KGH Foundation), an independent, volunteer-driven charitable organization, has since its inception in 1978  granted more than $38 million to Kelowna General Hospital and other health facilities in the Central Okanagan.
