Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg made a quick stop in Kamloops

Kamloops had a surprise visit from Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg yesterday.

Thunberg and her family stopped in Kamloops yesterday, Oct. 24, en route to Vancouver, and the family charged up their Tesla at the Tourism Kamloops visitor information centre.

Angie Halas was able to snap a selfie with the famous 16-year-old.

"Whether you agree with her actions or not, Greta Thunberg's rocking the boat and opening up the dialogue on climate change," Halas wrote in her Facebook post. 

"Excited to meet her / see her using the Tesla chargers at Tourism Kamloops today."

Thunberg is attending a climate strike in Vancouver today as part of the Fridays for Future movement she started, where grade school students skip school to highlight their desire for better environmental practices.

She has been on a North American tour after sailing across the Atlantic and has visited Edmonton, Fort McMurray and Jasper National Park.
