Suspicious fire snuffed out by Kelowna firefighters

Kelowna firefighters battled a small blaze on Cawston Avenue last night.

At approximately 12:45 a.m., Kelowna Fire Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting flames coming from a structure in the 1000 block of Cawston Avenue, according to the fire department in a news release.

Arriving crew members reported flames on the outside of a construction building on the site.

The flames were quickly knocked down by firefighters and no damage was reported on the inside of the building.

The fire is deemed to be suspicious at this time and is being investigated by both RCMP and Kelowna Fire Department, according to the press release.

There were no injuries and no one was displaced from the fire.

The Kelowna Fire Department responded with four engines, one rescue vehicle, a command unit and a safety vehicle with 19 personnel, according to the release.
